Fonda Kitt Muhammad

Fonda Kitt Muhammad is the Founder and Executive Director of Leaders by Choice (LBC), Inc. At LBC, Fonda aims to guide each student toward responsible self-management via richly motivating and challenging theater and leadership experiences. Fonda, also known as Coach Muhammad, is an educator, visionary, mentor, collaborator, writer, and change agent. She has both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Education and is currently pursuing certification in Drama Therapy.

As a visionary and long-time educator, Ms. Muhammad has created a myriad of learning environments wherein students learn acceptance as opposed to tolerance. Fonda taught English Language Arts, directed school productions, and cultivated leadership skills through the magic of theater for three decades in New York before relocating to Raleigh, North Carolina. In addition to growing her nonprofit organization, LBC, Fonda continues the journey of arts education as a Teaching Artist with Raleigh Little Theater, Garner Performing Arts Center, the Durham Arts Council, and the Halle Center. With the help of the LBC Team, Coach Muhammad will continue the work of developing both the artist and activist in our future leaders.

Fonda Kitt has been married for almost four decades and has 4 children and 4 grandchildren. On any given day, she can be seen at a local park spending time with her family.
